A video of a lonely book signing went viral, and the author’s book skyrocketed to best-seller status. The video showed many walking by and ignoring the author at the book signing, and social media stepped in and helped him out in a big way. Watch the video to see how the viral video turned into a lot of books sold.
Social media is typically a wasteland full of some of the most horrific and profane things imaginable. People usually post and respond with one snarky comment after another. Of course, they are things people would never say if they were face-to-face. However, Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) give people anonymity and allow them to hide behind a keyboard.
However, while popular social media platforms are where time, productivity, common courtesy and decency go to die, all is not lost. Sometimes, those sites can bring about some good. One clip posted on YouTube is evidence of how social media can help and uplift others.
In the video, Jonathan Stanley had just self-published a book on business and leadership. He was at a Pennsylvania Barnes and Noble waiting to sign the book for anyone who purchased a copy. However, nearly everyone walked right by and completely ignored him. Then, something sweet and heartwarming happened.
One mother captured and posted a video of the author at the signing on TikTok. The text in the video mentioned how her heart broke every time someone walked right by the man. The video also showed the woman’s 4-year-old daughter approaching the man with a copy of his book.
“I know what it’s like to have people walk past you and not really give you a second glance,” the mother said.
The video of the child walking up to the author has been watched more than 100 million times. That video has led to more than 10,000 sales of the author’s books, making his book a best-seller on Amazon.
What an incredible story that shows what a little bit of kindness can do in the world.
Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.”
