Hi there and welcome back to another installment of C’est Si Bon. It is a cloudy, rainy day here in the NYC area—perfect weather to get cozy and make the recipes I’m bringing you this week.
I didn’t grow up eating curries and other south Asian dishes in Southern California, but discovered I loved the warm spice of that cuisine as an adult on the East Coast. I know that Butter Chicken isn’t truly authentic, but we love the flavors of this saucy chicken with rice here in the McCullough house. It’s such a cozy and comforting dinner in the fall when it’s cold and rainy outside. The ingredients come together quickly and then simmer on the stove making an easy meal.

The other dish I’m highlighting this week is a coffee cake that is so good any time of day, with or without a cup of coffee. My mother made it when I was growing up, and now I make it for my kids, who absolutely love it for breakfast, and I love it with an espresso. I know I wrote about chocolate chip cookies last week, and this is a chocolate chip coffee cake, but what can I say? My family loves any dessert involving chocolate chips.

In the next few weeks, I’ll be diving headlong into the holidays, bringing you my favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, and let me know what you’re cooking and what you’d like to see more of.
PS—these photos were taken during a recent family trip to Sleepy Hollow. We got to learn more about Washington Irving, whom my kids love because they’re fascinated with his stories and characters—especially the Headless Horseman!
Cheers!
Aimee
